AAAA Support Member Scholarship – 2018 Essay Theme
"What safety advancements have been made in agricultural aircraft over the last 50 years, and what other advancements could be made to further ensure the agricultural pilot's safety in the future?"
The Support Members of the Arkansas Agricultural Aviation Association will award a $1,500 scholarship in an essay competition. If you are a AAAA member or become one by June 15, 2018, the Support Members invite you to be a sponsor. The scholarship is not restricted to use for a “flying career”. Any education pursuit beyond high school at any age is eligible. The Competition is open to all AAAA members, children, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law or spouse of any AAAA Operator, Pilot, Retired Operator or Pilot who maintains an active membership. Previous winners are not eligible.
- Deadline for entry is September 1, 2018
- Entrants must have graduated from high school prior to August 15, 2018 and be enrolled in continuing education during the year of entry
- Essays must be at least 1,500 words
- Topic deviation and/or modification will not be accepted
- Papers submitted will be judge on content, theme development, clarity, originality and proper grammar
- All sources used must be cited in a bibliography or works cited page
- Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification
- Entries must be typewritten and double-spaced
To ensure the judges will not know the identities of the writer, keep any reference to the author’s name, sponsoring company and company location out of the essay itself. However, a title page must be attached and contain the entrant’s name, address, email address, telephone number, relationship to the sponsor, sponsor’s company name, address and telephone number. A photograph of the entrant and short biography should be provided on a separate page.

Receipt of the essay will be acknowledged. The winners will be notified by phone and letter and recognized at the 2019 AAAA Convention in Little Rock. The Scholarship will be awarded for the Fall Semester of 2018.
Note: This year’s essay theme is not the same as the one being used for the NAAA Support Committee contest. However, we do encourage applicants to also submit their entry to the national essay contest. The previous year's winner was Katie Woolard. The theme for this year’s essay contest was “Today’s Debate: The Pros and Cons of ADS-B.” Katie is the daughter of AAAA member Matt Woolard and his wife, Cindy.
Katie is from Corning, Arkansas and is currently a sophomore at the University of Arkansas. She is a biochemistry major and plans on attending medical school to become a family practice doctor. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with my family and friends, watching razorback football, and traveling.
